Rise and Shine!

My stake recently put on its own women's 5k/10k Run Walk at Shoreline Park. I talked my mom and my coworker, Nicolette, into joining me though they decided to walk the 5k, not run the 10k with me.

We had a blast and despite this being my longest run in my Vibrams, I did surprisingly. I felt every piece of gravel and every rock and twig and spots of Shoreline. I was more sore afterwards than I have ever been which was so weird but that's just my feet getting used to the Vibrams.

Here are some pics of the event:

Our friendly parking crew

Just out directing traffic in their shirt and ties
Never even realized the photographer was taking photos of me during registration
A great turnout! Especially for the first annual event!

Ready...set...go

And yes I am rocking the Five Fingers

The starting line

Yes, I was excited to get this over...obviously. Plus you know my competitive spirit just had to be the first one out.

Love the drama of this shot. Reminds me of the Pioneer Children  song where they walked... and walked... and walked... and walked.

The missionaries did more than just direct traffic...they also kept us hydrated

And manned the porta potties :)

I met a girl along the run and she became my running buddy. She is a sprinter usually and had never run 6 miles. As we neared the finish line and she wanted to give up, I said "Alright sprinter, go get 'em" and she did. She left me in the dust :) It was fantastic!
