6 days and counting to... SUNSHINE!

Next weekend can not come soon enough for KerMatt! With my recent allergy inflammations (yep, it's official, I'm allergic to Utah!) and Matt's countless hours spent doing homework and grading papers, we are just dying to get out of here and enjoy some sunshine, relaxation and plentiful food that we don't have to make. Yep, that's right...our cruise! Hopefully this week will go fast as we prepare to leave.

Not much else new here...although I didn't mention in my last post that I recently spent a weekend up in Spokane with Brad and Sharee. We had a blast! and I loved spending time with their new little daughter, Finley. She is seriously the happiest child I have ever met and has such an infectious little personality. I loved playing with her and hanging out with Brad and Sharee. We ate great food - they introduced me to Greek yogurt and the Power 12 foods, and even spent hours making Toasted Marshmallow cupcakes. We searched all over Spokane for the tool that inserts yummy liquids in the middle of cupcakes, only to find it at Jo-Ann's Fabric (it is called a Bismarck tip, by the way).

We went on our usual shopping trip to help me talk Sharee into buying some new crazy stuff while also finding me a little NorthWest flare :) And of course, ended up watching our usual scary and cheesy movies.

We finished the trip with a quick photo shoot with Finley since we hadn't taken any photos of her and I together. Being the city girl that I am, I wanted to take photos by a big blue barn that I discovered by their house when we were out walking. The photo shoot was quick because it was so FREEZING COLD outside. but what an adventure it was.

This trip was just another great reminder of the wonderful friends I have in my life - something I tend to overlook when I get caught up in my day-to-day life.

And now Matt and I look forward to having some good, quality time together away from our daily distractions.

Love you all!

KerMatt

Sail away...sail away...sail away

So we just realized that we have not yet blogged in 2011.  Ooppsy :)  Please forgive us of our blogging sins and remember why you love us.

First and foremost, we are happy to announce that KerMatt have not only paid off our credit cards this month... but we are taking Matt's spring break week in March to celebrate on a 7-day cruise down the Mexican Riviera with stops in Cabo, Puerta Vallarta and Mazatlan. Matt surprised me with this on Valentine's weekend and I am shocked that he is even okay with spending the money. But I know he is going to love it!!!

We are not ready to do our Debt Free Shout Out yet though my friends... since we still have a huge chunk of student loans to work on now. But for now, we are working through our baby steps :) and happy to be doing so.

And in our day to day lives...

I have been busy learning my role at Primary Children's and preparing for our 35th Annual Radiothon with KSL, which we had this last Thursday and Friday. We raised just over $468,000 in the day and a half of broadcasting, which is amazing since that is like three times the amount we raised on a whole of fundraising for the Utah Heart Walk and with less stress and physical beating. Although it was no walk in park by any means... Thursday night I left the hospital at 12:30 am and came back to work at 4:30 which was not easy for me. Check out some of the photos...

I am also responsible for putting together our Idaho Telethon which will happen in early June so I have had to travel up there by myself to meet with our volunteer chairs and donors. It is a pretty drive...but scary due to the high volume of deer that cross the freeway in certain spots.

I am absolutely loving working at Primary Children's and meeting the wonderful people who volunteer so much of their time and most especially the amazing children who I am learning so much from. I have met the sickest of the sick kids but you could never tell when you talk to these kids. They are so strong and are the ones comforting their parents at times. Seriously amazing little spirits!

Matt is being his usual adorable Matt... geeking out while helping others do the same, playing basketball, eating a lot and making me laugh. He is also plowing through his Master's classes like a champ while serving as a Teacher's Assistant for two different classes keeping him extra busy grading assignments over the weekends. He teaches a class at 8:30 am on Wednesdays and Fridays, which for those of you who know him is a major accomplishment.

And that's KerMatt... new and improved in 2011.  Hollaback sometime as we love our family and friends and love hearing about what is going on in your lives.
